<br />1 <br />Traffic Operations Committee Special Meeting Minutes – November 21, 2019 <br />I:\ENPS - Common\EN\Traffic\T.O.C\Agendas & Minutes\2019\Minutes 11-21-19.doc <br />CITY OF CORONADO <br /> <br />TRAFFIC OPERATIONS COMMITTEE <br /> <br />SPECIAL MEETING MINUTES <br /> <br />Thursday, November 21, 2019 <br /> <br /> <br />A special meeting of the Traffic Operations Committee (TOC) was held on Thursday, November <br />21, 2019, at 2 p.m. in the Council Chambers. Committee members Jim Lydon, Cliff Maurer, and <br />Ed Walton were present. Jesse Brown represented the absent Richard Grunow and Laszlo <br />Waczek represented the absent Chuck Kaye. Principal Engineer Jim Newton was also present. <br /> <br />1. Minutes of the October 24, 2019, Meeting – Mr. Brown moved to approve the minutes; Mr. <br />Walton seconded the motion and it passed 5-0. <br /> <br />2. Oral Communications – None. <br /> <br />3. Recommendation regarding Traffic Calming and Pedestrian Safety Improvements to the <br />Intersection of Sixth Street and Pomona Avenue – Mr. Newton introduced the issue. The staff <br />recommendation is: 1) Install a new pedestrian crosswalk on the north side of the intersection; <br />replace the pedestrian ramp on the northwest corner; and 2) Install new “Crossing Ahead” <br />warning signs/markings (replace existing signs on northbound Pomona; new signs for <br />southbound Pomona). <br /> Committee discussion was held. Mr. Maurer then opened the item for public comment. <br /> Althea Morrissey, 1430 Sixth Street, suggested adding “Cross Traffic Does Not Stop” signs <br />to the stop signs on Sixth as some people seem to assume it’s a four-way stop. <br /> Mr. Brown moved to accept the staff recommendation; Mr. Waczek seconded the motion and <br />it passed 5-0. <br /> <br />4. Recommendation regarding the 2018 Annual Traffic Report – Mr. Newton introduced the <br />report. The only recommendation is to continue ongoing efforts to construct bulb-outs at Fourth <br />and A. <br /> Mr. Maurer suggested that an analysis of the recently installed traffic control devices on A <br />Avenue at Fourth be included in the 2019 annual report. <br /> Mr. Lydon moved to submit the report to the City Council; Mr. Brown seconded the motion <br />and it passed 5-0. <br /> <br /> The meeting adjourned at 2:20 p.m.
